Factor CO2 has organized a workshop in Bangkok to implement carbon footprint systems in the oil industry. The workshop is part of the technical support provided by Factor CO2 to the Thai refinery Bangchak Petroleum Company in the calculation of its carbon footprint and its plan to become carbon neutral. This project has had financial support from the Asian Development Bank.

Iker Larrea, partner of Factor CO2, opened the workshop with a conference which explained how to implement the organization and product carbon footprint in the oil sector.

This event, organized by Factor CO2 with the collaboration of ERM-Siam and Asian Development Bank (ADB), aimed to strengthen the energetic industry’s capacity to carry out a transition to low carbon economy business models.

Bangchak Petroleum Company took part in the workshop reporting their experience in the project to calculate their carbon footprint and to design their plan to become carbon neutral. In this project, supported financially by the Asian Development Bank and technically by Factor CO2 and ERM-Siam, it has been developed a system to monitor greenhouse gases emissions in real time. This system was displayed in the workshop.

More than 50 people attended the workshop and participated actively during the day. Most of the companies which assisted to the event came from energy and industry sectors.

An interesting debate was created at the end of the workshop due to the high-profile speakers and the participation of the public, who were very keen to learn the principal outcomes of the project.
