When Factor CO2 began its activity it was a Spanish company specialized in climate change policies and in European Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS). Actually, after more than 600 projects, with over 350 customers in 15 countries, we are a global initiative and we bring ideas and services against climate change from very different perspectives through its international network of offices.

Factor CO2 is composed of three companies:
 

• Factor CO2 Ideas is a consultancy company with extensive experience and a broad range of projects for public and private sector within this field. Its scope ranges from mitigation and adaptation government policy development to climate change to advice on emission allowance trading, emission inventories and carbon footprints, awareness projects and voluntary initiatives, as well as international projects on emissions reduction.
• Factor CO2 Trading is a company specialized on the role of intermediary in carbon markets. Its services portfolio includes operations within the different carbon markets (European, Kyoto and voluntary markets, etc.). Hallmarks from this company rely on the expertise and market knowledge from its staff, together with a firm commitment to transparency.
• Factor CO2 Ennova, which has started its activity in 2009, although is composed by a professional team with extensive experience in the environmental field working under the Ecofys brand in Spain. This company aims at developing and promoting innovative technical solutions to tackle challenges related to sustainable energy use and climate change. Its areas of work include renewable energy, energy management, built environment, mobility and climate change adaptation.

 

As an overview of the main project references from the company we highlight:

• In the international context, Factor CO2 has worked for international organizations such as the World Bank Group, the Inter-American Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Asian Development Bank. Furthermore it has also worked on international projects to reduce emissions in 12 countries.
• In the policy area concerning climate change, it has developed activities for 13 regional governments in setting up and developing policies and strategies on climate change, as well as other projects for the Ministry of Environment, municipalities and other organizations.
• In the industrial field, has acted as advisory entity to more than 200 industrial installations affected by the EU ETS (European Trade Scheme).
• In the intermediation field it has been operating in carbon markets involving a total turnover valued at about €100 million.
• In the voluntary initiatives field it has calculated more than 150 carbon footprint as a tool to manage low-carbon strategies.
