Services: European emission trading scheme

The European Emission Trading Scheme (ETS) is the most ambitious environmental initiative worldwide, with industrial character. Its medium term results will be critical in determining the ability of the electricity, industrial and aviation sectors to adapt to new, low carbon scenarios. In addition, other trading schemes are currently being used or developed in other parts of the world. However, their scope varies since some of them are national, regional or local.

Factor CO₂ has a deep understanding of the emissions trading process and has been in charge of numerous projects for national and regional authorities and private organizations from the industry and energy sectors.

Among our projects in this area, the following stand out:

Design of low carbon markets for economies in transition.
Applied the European Emission Trading Scheme (ETS) to more than 300 installations, since 2004. Advised more than 100 in their free allocation application for 2013-2020. Furthermore we have also worked on the authorization and allocation processes and renewal of monitoring plans, among others.
Advisory to public administrations of more than 10 European regions on the implementation of the European Emission Trading Scheme (ETS).
