Factor assists in carbon neutrality of the Mobile World Congress event in Los Angeles

28 October 2019 | Mitigation

From October 22 to 24, 2019 the Factor team, represented by Sofía Ordozgoiti, Carbon Footprint Team Consultant, was in Los Angeles, California, supporting the GSMA in calculating the carbon footprint of the Mobile World Congress event Los Angeles (MWC Los Angeles) and the neutralization of its emissions.

Factor will support the maintenance of the carbon neutrality certification of MWC Los Angeles by assisting in the calculation of the carbon footprint and the definition of its carbon management plan. Factor will also help in the verification and declaration of neutrality.

As an organization, the GSMA is fully aware of the impact that its activities and events have on climate change.

In 2011, the GSMA established a GHG emissions indicator for all the activities of its events, identifying the key actors and processes, to institute actions and goals to reduce the carbon footprint of the events.

Since 2014, the GSMA has taken this commitment one step further and has neutralized all GHG emissions associated with the MWC Barcelona event. It should be noted that in 2015, 2016 and 2018, the MWC in Barcelona obtained the Guinness world record of: “World’s Largest Carbon Neutral Trade Show”.

In this sense, the GSMA has continued with its carbon audit and its reduction and neutralization efforts for each MWC event with the support of Factor in its different events as well as in the event held in June this year in Shanghai.
