This week the third phase of the project focused on calculating the carbon footprint in exports of the food industry in Ecuador was launched. This project is supported by CORPEI, CAF and PROECUADOR.

With this launch Factor CO2, presented this week a workshop in which, Asier Sopelana, partner and project manager in Factor CO2, explained issues such as methodologies, identifying obstacles and diagrams of generic carbon footprint processes to different companies in Quito, Guayaquil and Manta.

This year about 17 exporters from sectors such as seeds, plastics, wood and flowers, in addition to companies in sectors which joined the project in previous phases like cocoa, banana, oil palm and shrimp, will be added to this project in order to optimize and strengthen the competitiveness of the products offered both in the local and international market.

In addition to these presentations to various companies, visits were arranged to learn more about the different production processes.
