The team of Factor, represented by Hugo Lucas, responsible for Factor Energy and CEO of Factor Germany and Julie Urban, Senior Consultant of Factor, participated in the event "Sustainable Energy Forum of ECOWAS" (ESEF2017), held from 11 to 13 October 2017 in Dakar, Senegal.

The ECOWAS Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Center organizes the 1st edition of the ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum, which aims to promote the exchange of ideas and cooperation to support the acceleration of sustainable solutions to the energy situation of the region.

The forum provides a platform to improve the current legislative and regulatory landscape that hampers the required investment in the region's energy sector. At the same time, it facilitates the creation of agreements and partnerships between ECOWAS policymakers, regional and international actors in the private sector and financial institutions.

The theme of ESEF 2017 is "Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in West Africa: From Plans to Actions". In ESEF 2017 Factor will carry out the analysis of the participation of the energy sector in the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC).

ESEF 2017 is supported by the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC), the Spanish Agency for international Development Cooperation (AECID), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the World Bank Group, and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

Factor has provided technical assistance in the design and implementation of auction systems for the promotion of renewable energy sources in the Philippines, Nigeria, Mali and Madagascar.
