Factor participates in the 16th virtual exchange session of the Climate Policy Monitoring and Evaluation Community of Practice in El Salvador

Last Thursday, June 25th, the 16th online exchange session of the Community of Practice on Monitoring and Evaluation of Climate Policies (COP M&E), an initiative of the EUROCLIMA+ Programme, was held. It was carried out through the International Foundation for Ibero-American Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP) and supported by the LEDSLAC Platform. The meeting focused on El Salvador's perspectives on institutional arrangements and the design of the monitoring and reporting system of its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC).
As representative of FIIAPP/EUROCLIMA+ was attending Beatriz García-Pozuelo, who put in context the support that EUROCLIMA+ offers to El Salvado.The Climate Change Unit of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN) of El Salvador was represented by Adriana Erazo, who presented the current situation of the country and a summary of the process that has been executed with the objective of implementing the monitoring system in the NDC.
Finally, the consultants Ibon Galarraga from Metroeconómica and Susana González from Factor CO2, explained the details of the system, as well as the good practices and lessons learned that have been rescued from it. Factor's main objective in the project is to support MARN in the establishment of a web-based system for monitoring and reporting progress in the implementation of NDC, in line with the needs of the report of the Transparency Framework of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
The project includes the participatory definition of indicators and the establishment of the governance of the system, based on an analysis of its institutional capacity and needs for institutional arrangements.
