Factor presents the project for the calculation and inscription of the carbon footprint of the association SIDEREX in the Registry of the OECC

11 March 2019 | Mitigation

Today, Tuesday March 12, the Factor team together with the Spanish Association of Steelworks Exporters (SIDEREX) will present the project for the inscription of the carbon footprint (CF) of SIDEREX, as an association, in the Registry of the Spanish Office of Climate Change (OECC, for its acronym in spanish).

SIDEREX, in its commitment to contribute to the reduction of GHG emissions in the framework of climate change mitigation, and together with Factor CO2, developed a tool to measure CF in the steel sector.

The main objective of the project is to close the circle and offer the opportunity to all those companies interested in integrating this tool into their management system, so that it is subsequently validated by an auditor.

The project scheme will consist of two phases:

  • Phase 1 (2019): Calculation of the carbon footprint.
  • Phase 2 (2020): Registration of CF in the OECC Registry. This second phase brings with it another important benefit after implementation; ensuring that GHG-related information is true and unbiased. This is a single verification report as an Association where the participating companies would have a place and obtain an accreditation seal of CF registration, which recognizes that companies voluntarily join this initiative reflecting the effort undertaken by them in the fight for climate change.

The Factor team, represented by Asier Sopelana, partner and project manager and Sofia Ordozgoiti, consultant, will present the details of the initiative and share the main benefits to participating companies.
