UNFCCC Executive Secretary stresses Morocco’s leadership to fight global warming

Executive secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Christiana Figueres underlined, on Monday in Bonn, Morocco’s leadership in the fight against global warming.
In a statement to MAP, on the occasion of Bonn Conference on Climate Change, Figuers highlighted Morocco’s commitment to using renewable energy in the leading Noor-Ouarzazate solar complex which drew attention worldwide.
Thanks to its expertize and commitment to renewable energy, Morocco have now a better control of this problem, she said, voicing her gratitude to Morocco for assuming the responsibility of organizing the COP22.
It is a matter not only of hosting the COP and providing logistics, but also of conducting a political leadership the whole year, said the UNFCCC official. The Bonn Conference marks the 44th session of UNFCCC’s subsidiary bodies SBSTA and SBI, and the first session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Paris Agreement.
